Dear Neighbors,

Our amazing storm has come and gone, and I did a pretty good job with my last forecast of wild, cool, wet weather that occurred over the past five days. I made no attempt to forecast specific shower events within the days, because to do that, I would have had to issue forecasts at very short time intervals. My forecasts at this time of year are intended to give you advance warning of a significant weather event that will affect your lives. Certainly, our just-departed storm did that. It not only affected us in Ken Caryl; it affected all of Colorado and the surrounding states, causing severe weather and the record flooding in Arkansas and most recently in Oklahoma that took human lives. Such storms so late in the season really are a BIG DEAL, and my purpose is letting you know that such an event is on the way long before it occurs.

Summer will return to Ken Caryl beginning today and extending through the weekend. Temperatures will be in the 80'sF and 90'sF and there still will be a few isolated summer showers and thunderstorms. Ken Caryl will receive a minimum of shower activity. This is typical summer weather and not much worthy of note. I provide the information merely to assist you with the planning our your lives.

My weather forecasts will come at a lesser frequency over the summer. I plan to intrude into your lives only when I see a a major weather event on the horizon that is going to affect your lives. In the interim I suggest you use the services of the National Weather Service for your day-to-day weather forecasts.

Have a great summer!

Bill
