Beacon-Tincup Phase III – Fuel Mitigation Project
Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space, Colorado State Forest Service and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be continuing work on the fuels reduction project at the top of Tincup Hill. Work will begin by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in mid-April with completion by June 15. The project will extend the 31-acre fuel break that was established in 2016 to a total of 45 acres. The objectives of this project are to improve: wildfire suppression opportunities, overall forest health, and aesthetics of the open space property. During forestry operations, there will be signs posted giving trail users advanced warning that machinery and felling operations are active. Trail closures may be needed occasionally to accommodate equipment use and to provide safety to the public. Any closures will be coordinated by Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space Rangers. For further information or questions, please contact Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space staff at 303-979-1876, ext. 170.
