Nature Youth Programs (Ages 4-6)

Outdoor Discovery

Explore nature with experiments, hikes, and opportunities to view wildlife in the community. This program is ideal for preschoolers, part-time kindergarteners, or students attending home school. Outdoor Discovery utilizes a daily environmental-based curriculum combined with STEAM activities and Next Generation Science Standards. Additionally, these nature-based lessons will include integrative opportunities to experience art, music, science, math, geography, and literature to help children connect subject matter and retain information. Each day there will be new discoveries and topics will change from week to week.

Please bring lunch, proper shoes for hiking, water bottle and clothes to be outside. Bradford half-day kindergarteners have the option of being transported to Dakota Lodge after school. For more information contact Alex Shermot at 720-512-3529 or alexs@kcranch.org.

ArtVentures!

Art Ventures

Fuse art and nature learning together! Art Ventures is ideal for preschoolers, part-time kindergarteners or home-schooled students. Students will have the opportunity to explore and connect to nature and local wildlife in new ways through artistic learning and hiking. Lessons include creating works of art outside in nature using natural materials and art materials, going on nature “inspiration” hikes, and participating in nature journaling.

Each lesson will include a nature topic, hike, and an art project. Most hikes will take place in or near the Ken-Caryl community. Students will often be transported to local hiking trails via our minibus to and from Dakota Lodge by the instructor. Bradford half-day kindergarteners have the option of being transported to Dakota Lodge after school. Please bring proper shoes for hiking, water bottle, sack lunch, and clothes to be outside.
