Junior Tennis Lesson Descriptions

girl tennisAll ages and levels must be able to demonstrate court safety, good effort and be able to follow instructions.

5-6 year olds

Red Balls 36 Foot Court
Level A
Introduction to Tennis

Level B
• Must have attended a minimum of two sessions of Level A.
• Can put 3 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the 36 foot court.
• Understands and performs basic strokes.

7-8 year olds

Orange Balls 60 Foot Court
Level A
Introduction to Tennis

Level B
• Must have attended a minimum of two sessions of Level A.
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Can put 3 out of 10 balls fed to the backhand in play in the 60 foot court.

Level C
• Must have attended Level B.
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the backhand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Good form on serve & makes contact over head.
• Can put 3 out of 10 serves in either service box.

9-10 year olds

Orange Balls 60 Foot Court
Level A

Level B
• Must have attended Level C.
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Can put 3 out of 10 balls fed to the backhand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Consistently makes contact with service toss over head. Serve will usually clear net.

Level C
• Must have attended Level B.
• Can put 7 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the backhand in play in the 60 foot court.
• Starting to sustain a rally during point play with peers.
• Can put 3 out of 10 serves in either service box.
• This player is ready for Rookie Tennis.

Comp 1
• Must have attended Level C.
• Can hit serve above head with good form.
• Hit 5 out of 10 serves into correct box.
• Consistently sustains a rally during point play with peers.
• Has cursory knowledge of rules, scoring and procedures.

11-12 year olds

Green Dot Balls Full Court
Level A
Introduction to Tennis

Level B
• Must have attended Level A.
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the full singles court.
• Can put 3 out of 10 balls fed to the backhand in play in the full singles court
• Consistently makes contact with service toss over head. Serve usually will clear the net and make it into any part of the court.
• This player is ready for Rookie Tennis.

Comp 1
• Must have attended Level B.
• Can put 7 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the full singles court.
• Can put 5 out of 10 serves in correct service box.
• Starting to sustain a rally during point play with peers.
• Has cursory knowledge of rules, scoring and procedures.
• Rarely hits forehand above shoulder patty-cake style.

13-14 year olds

Regular Balls Full Court
Level A
Introduction to Tennis

Level B
• Can put 5 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the full singles court.
• Can put 3 out of 10 balls fed to the backhand in play in the full singles court.
• Consistently makes contact with service toss over head. Serve usually will clear the net and make it into any part of the court.

• Can put 7 out of 10 balls fed to the forehand in play in the full singles court.
• Can put 5 out of 10 serves in correct service box.
• Starting to sustain a rally during point play with peers.
• Has cursory knowledge of rules, scoring and procedures.
