How Do I Submit for Roof Replacement?
Information and materials required for your application include:
- Fill out the Home Improvement Online Form below.
- Indicate which roofing product from the approved list to be used.
- If you are submitting for a roof not on the approved list, a sample will be required and may need additional review. Please allow for up to 30 days for processing.
KEN-CARYL RANCH ROOFING GUIDELINES (Excludes the North Ranch, Manor Ridge and the Enclave)
Roofing material throughout Ken-Caryl Ranch varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. Replacement of a roof requires a Home Improvement Request and Architectural Committee approval.
The homeowner may be required to submit a sample for review. Submittals need to adhere to the criteria listed below.
Standard Composition Roofing: (This roofing may ONLY be installed in Saddlewood, The Territory, The Village, and those homes in Cimarron whose original roofs were not shake shingle.) This conventional asphalt or fiberglass roofing material is currently in use in these neighborhoods. Three patterns that have been approved for these homes are Three Tab, T-Lock, and a Laminated 2-ply (5 tab) shingle. Any upgraded product, listed below, may also be used.
THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF ROOFING MAY BE INSTALLED IN ANY NEIGHBORHOOD on Ken-Caryl Ranch (excluding the North Ranch, Manor Ridge and The Enclave, which require subassociation review):
Wood Shingles and Shakes: Wood shingles were installed as part of the original construction in many neighborhoods and are still permitted. However, they also may be replaced by any of the roofing materials listed below.
Premium Composition Roofing: The following heavily textured or patterned style composition shingles are approved to replace wood shake roofs:

• GAF Grand Canyon
• GAF Grand Sequoia

• Owens Corning Woodcrest
• Owens Corning Woodmoor
• Tamko Heritage Vintage
• IKO Armourshake
• CeDur Synthetic Shake
• Malarky Windsor and Windsor XL
Tile/Slate Roofs: Both tile and natural slate may be installed. Tile roofs are commonly constructed with clay tiles, concrete tiles, or a composite of concrete and fiber.
Stone-Coated Steel Roofs: Tile and Shake Styles are permitted.
Roofing systems not approved include hardboard shingles and rolled roofing. The final decision for permitting changes to existing roof materials, style and color will be made by the Architectural Committee on an individual basis, following the standard procedure for submittal and review.
