How to Submit a Letter

The preferred method for submitting letters to the editor is by email to Allison Rager.

A response will be sent via email when a letter is received. If you do not receive a response, call 303-979-1876 ext. 108 to confirm receipt.

Submission Requirements

We do not print anonymous letters. Letters must include the author’s name, address and daytime phone number. Only the author’s name and “Ken-Caryl Resident” or applicable government office will be printed in the newspaper.

Residents may submit up to eight letters to the editor per calendar year. More than one letter per resident may be published in a single issue of the newspaper provided the letters are not about the same subject.

Letters are published on a space-available basis and may be edited. The editor retains the right to determine appropriateness and content. Letters will be published in plain text. The use of all caps, italics, bold formatting or excessive exclamation points will not be allowed.

Published letters to the editor do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Master Association, its directors, officers, employees, agents, staff, Life at Ken-Caryl or its editor. Neither the editor nor the Master Association accepts responsibility for the content of these letters. Authors accept full responsibility for their written words. Letters should comply with acceptable standards of courtesy and respect.

Additional Policies

1. Review of Inappropriate Content
   Letters considered by the editor to be inappropriate due to content, subject matter, language or other concerns will be reviewed by the Master Association Board President or other Board members. Such letters may not be published. If a letter is not published, an explanation will be provided to the author.
2. Review of Questionable Content
   Letters considered questionable by staff will be reviewed by the Master Association Board President or other Board members. A determination will be made to:
   • Publish the letter as submitted
   • Publish the letter with a clarification or editorial note
   • Request revisions and resubmission from the author
3. Questionable letters include:
   • Letters that could be considered defamatory under Colorado law
   • Letters that appear to involve disputes between neighbors
   • Any other letter staff deems questionable
4. Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association reserves the right not to publish any letter.
5. Space Limitations
   If space is limited, the editor may:
   • Prioritize letters based on the order they were received
   • Contact the author and request a shorter version
   • Hold a letter for publication in a future issue
6. Additional Review
   Letters to the editor may be forwarded to subject matter experts or other individuals deemed necessary to evaluate questionable content and determine whether an editorial note, clarification or follow-up with the author is needed prior to publication.
