Pool Closures

Weather Closure Policy

Per policy, when thunder is heard or lightning is seen, or within 10 miles, the pool must close until the thunder and/or lightning has stopped for at least 30 minutes. You will be required to leave the pool and the pool deck for your safety and the safety of our guards. If the pool will be closed for a short amount of time due to weather, we won’t post updates on social media. However, if the pool is expected to be closed all day, we will make every effort to update Ken-Caryl Ranch’s Facebook page.

The weather changes rapidly; therefore, delays and closures at the pool can happen rapidly as well. You can also monitor the weather using the WeatherBug app, just like our guards!

Pool Passes & Fobs

Have you already purchased your pass? Congratulations! If you don’t already have a fob, you should have received your fob in the mail (if purchased before May 22) or you can stop by the Community Center Pool or Front Desk (see hours below).

  • Already have a KC fob? If you have an existing Ken-Caryl Ranch key fob or had one previously, your individual membership has already been loaded onto that fob. You do not need a new one and one won’t be created for pick-up! If other family members do not already have an existing fob, a fob will be created for each family member. Every person will have their own fob (ages 3 and older), so you’ll need to scan each one when entering the pool.
  • Can’t find your fob? Email us at recreation@kcranch.org for a replacement fob.
  • Not a fan of fobs? Once you get your fobs, take a picture of the bar code on your fob and save to your cell phone. You can use the picture on your cell phone to check into the pool instead of the fob. Just remember, every person has a different bar code, so you’ll need to save as many as you have in your family (ages 3 and older).

So, you haven’t purchased your pass? Your best bet to save time is to purchase your pass online, then pick up your fob at the Community Center (see time below) two business days after purchase (staff will check you in manually in the interim for those two days).

Prefer to purchase at the pool? It’s going to take awhile, with all the excited patrons checking in. Please purchase your pass online or contact us for assistance!

Questions? Email us at recreation@kcranch.org.

Picking up your pass? Please go to the Community Center Pool or Front Desk two business days after you have purchased your pass during the following hours:

Community Center Pool

Monday – Friday: 10:30 a.m.- 7 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Community Center Front Desk

Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Nanny and Grandchild Pool Pass

To purchase a Grandchild Pool Pass

The parent or legal guardian of your grandchildren will need to have a Ken-Caryl Ranch activity registration account with up to date contact information, including email and phone number. Each grandchild must be listed in the parent or legal guardian’s account with the correct name, home address, phone number and email for the parent or guardian, and date of birth of the child. Once that is complete, you will need to complete the Grandchild Pool Pass Form.

Please note the payment will be processed using the payment method on the resident grandparent’s account. To avoid delays, make sure your payment method is up to date. Grandchild passes are $35 per child. A receipt will be emailed after completion.

To purchase a Nanny Pool Pass

If your nanny is a non-resident and doesn’t already have a Ken-Caryl Ranch activity registration account they will need to create one here.  The nanny should list their own address and contact information in their profile and not the resident’s address. Once that is complete, you will need to complete the Nanny Pool Pass Form.

Please note the payment will be processed using the payment method on the resident’s account. To avoid delays, make sure your payment method is up to date. Nanny passes are $35 per person. After you receive your receipt, pool access cards may be picked up at the Ranch House administration office during normal business hours. A photo is required before use.

Kid in pool swim lessons
Parent/Tot Time
(Ages 6 months – 3 years)

Time
Mon-Thurs 10:10-10:40am

Our smallest swimmers will develop comfort in the water in a fun family environment. Toddlers will play games, sing songs, and develop basic water confidence. Every day the lesson will be very similar to foster a learning environment that allows your toddler to safely and securely explore! An adult is required to be in the water with their tot. Swim diapers are required.

Beginner: Turtles
(Ages: 3-5 years)

Time
Mon-Thurs 10:10-10:40am

For children who are ready to explore the water on their own! Your turtles will play games while working on basic water skills to help them become more comfortable and safer in the water away from their parents or guardians. Advancement through the beginner level involves entering the water, following simple instructions from the instructor, blowing bubbles, and floating and kicking on their front and back with assistance. They will also learn proper entry and exit from the water, putting their whole face in the water, simple arm strokes on their front and back, and completely submerging their head.

Intermediate: Turtles
(Ages: 3-5 years)

Time
Mon-Thurs 10:10-10:40am

Intermediate turtles will start to move around the pool more during their lessons as they learn to monkey crawl on the wall, float without assistance on their front and back, submerge their head to retrieve underwater objects, kick on their front and back without assistance, and work further on simple arm strokes.

Beginner: Octopus
(Ages: 6-9 years)

Time:
Mon-Thurs 10:45-11:15am

Our Octopi will work hard with instructors to become comfortable in the water through basic skills, including front and back floats, glides, coordinated arm and leg movements for front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke with assistance, and jumping in from the side to swim to the instructor.

Intermediate: Octopus
(Ages: 6-9 years)

Time:
Mon-Thurs 10:45-11:15am

To graduate from the intermediate class your swimmer will begin to be comfortable swimming on their own! They will be able to swim 10 meters of front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke without assistance, and complete a full 25 meters flutter kick with a kickboard. They will also be introduced to the breaststroke kick.

Intermediate: Sharks
(Ages: 10-12 years)

Time:
Mon-Thurs 11:20-11:50am

The Intermediate Sharks class will bring your swimmer to new heights (or lengths, that is)! To complete this class, your swimmer will be able to swim the full 25 meters of the pool using freestyle, backstroke, and elementary backstroke. They will also be able to swim 25 meters breaststroke kick, and scissor kick and be introduced to breaststroke. They will be introduced to flip turns, diving from the side of the pool, learning to swim to the bottom of the pool, and treading water for 1 minute.

Advanced: Sharks
(Ages: 10-12 years)

Time:
Mon-Thurs 11:20-11:50am

The Advanced Sharks are the big fish in our pools! This level focuses on building a well-rounded swimmer by developing their abilities and enhancing individual stroke proficiencies. To complete the Sharks level swimmers will swim 50 meters of freestyle and backstroke, 50 meters of breaststroke and sidestroke, while demonstrating open turns and flip turns where appropriate. They will also be able to dive from the starting block and tread water for 3 minutes without stopping.
