KCRMD Before & After School Recreation Programs provide a caring, safe, and fun learning environment. Students explore a wide variety of activities that develop learning, encourage imagination, and promote positive social and emotional skills. Join us for exciting science experiments, cooking, art projects, sports, games, reading, homework help and more!

Before & After Care

Full-Day Care
Full-day care is offered on many scheduled school closure days, including:
- Teacher workdays
- Professional development days
- Select holidays
- Other designated no-school days
Availability varies throughout the school year.

Choosing a Registration Type
When registering, families will select a program location and choose one of the following options:
Drop-In Registration
Best for families who only need care occasionally, such as:
- Sporadic afternoons
- Occasional mornings
- Select full-day care dates
Standard Registration
Best for families who need ongoing care, such as:
- Weekly before-school care
- Consistent after-school care
- Recurring monthly schedules

Signing Up for Care Dates

Standard Families
Premier Sign-Up
Available to Ken-Caryl Ranch District residents.
Benefits include:
- Register for at least 45 days of care per semester
- Guaranteed placement
- Early access to summer camp registration when enrolled in both semesters
Additional details:
- Fall registration takes place during the last two weeks of July
- Spring registration takes place during the last two weeks of November
- Cancellations and refunds are not available
- Excessive absences may result in removal from Premier enrollment
Monthly Sign-Up
- Register for the following month between the 1st–15th (residents) or 5th–15th (non-residents)
- Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis
- Cancellations follow the policies outlined in the Parent Handbook
Add-On Sessions
Additional care dates may be requested after registration deadlines, subject to space availability. Add-on fees apply.
Our Mission
Ken-Caryl Ranch Youth Programs create safe, enriching experiences that support youth and families through recreation, learning and exploration. Through engaging activities and dedicated staff, we help children build confidence, develop healthy habits and create meaningful connections with their community.
FAQ
We don’t accept cash or paper checks.
You can pay using:
Electronic check with no fee
Credit card or debit card with a small processing fee
All full-day programs are held at the Ranch House, regardless of your child’s regular program location.
Before Care: 6:45 a.m. until school drop-off (bus departs at 8:30 a.m.)
After Care: End of the school day until 6:00 p.m.
Full-Day Programs: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ken-Caryl Ranch uses 14-passenger mini buses. Before & After Care instructors are also trained bus drivers and provide daily transportation between program sites and schools.
Shaffer Elementary – Ranch House location.
Bradford Elementary K-6th grade – Dakota Lodge and Community Center locations.
We currently only serve those two schools.
Yes. Bradford students may register for either location. However, activities and programming at each site are designed for specific age groups to create a more enriching experience.
Yes. Bradford families may register all children at one location for convenience. However, children may have the best experience at the site designed for their age group.
Before & After Care programs: Requests for a credit or refund must be submitted at least one week before the scheduled program date.
Break Camps: The cancellation deadline for Break Camps is listed on the registration page.
Yes. Participants enrolled in the Premier Sign-Up Plan for both the fall and spring semesters receive early access to summer camp registration.
Yes, provided you give at least one week’s notice and space is available on the new day.
Requests made after the cancellation deadline may require payment for the new day, and the original day may not be eligible for a refund or credit.

to request specific days.
Yes. If your child is enrolled in Before & After Care, we can help them attend other on-site programs during program hours. For example, if your child is in After Care at the Community Center, we can walk them to a tennis lesson. If your child is in After Care at the Ranch House, we can walk them to an after-school art class. Please let us know about any scheduled activities so we can help coordinate transportation to and from the program.
You can view your full schedule by logging into your ActiveNet account. Once logged in, go to your registrations to see the days and weeks your child is signed up.
