Weekly Trails Report – September 26, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on Columbine and Lost Canyon.
  • Volunteers continue to help the Weed Warrior team tackle invasive species.

  • None this week.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • This will be the last report for the season. Work will be scattered and minimal through year-end.

1.) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on Columbine, Lost Canyon and Bradford.
  • Volunteers continue to help the Weed Warrior team tackle invasive species.

  • Volunteers cut and thinned vegetation in Brannon Gearhart Park behind Wood Sorrel per direction of staff.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • Volunteers will work on vegetation and tread maintenance around the system throughout the remainder of the fall, though the bulk of the work has now been completed for the season.

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on Bradford and the Red Fox connector.
  • Volunteers continue to help the Weed Warrior team tackle invasive species.

  • None this week but an opportunity was just announced for this coming Saturday 9/17 in Brannon Gearhart Park.

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on Summit View, Bradford, Question Mark Peak and High Meadow.
  • Volunteers continue to help the Weed Warrior team tackle invasive species, focusing this last week on the bee hive area and behind Tamarade.

  • None this week but there will be a volunteer opportunity announced soon for mid-September in the Brannon Gearhart Park area.

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on Bradford, Golden Spike, Summit View, South Shaffer, High Meadow and the Willowleaf/Stallion Pointe connector.
  • Volunteers completed the BGP turnpike project. All fill has been spread and recent storm damaged fixed.
  • Volunteers continue to help the Weed Warrior team tackle invasive species.

Weekly Trails Report – July 25, 2022

Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on Beacon Hill, Columbine and Lost Canyon.

2) Fire safety

  • None this week.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • Volunteers will wrap up the BGP turnpike and work on vegetation and tread maintenance around the system throughout the remainder of July and August.

Weekly Trails Report – July 18, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed vegetation and tread maintenance on EPT/Manzanita, Lyons, Ridge, Kiln, Golden Spike, Bradford and High Meadow trails.
  • Volunteers worked on the small reroute of Lark Bunting by the pump house. The old section will be officially closed soon.
  • Volunteers continued to work on the Brannon Gearhart Park turnpike expansion and is now open again. The final load of fill was delivered and about 50% of it spread. All other work is done outside of removing slash.

Weekly Trails Report – July 11, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed weed mitigation and tread maintenance on Cougar, Golden Banner, High Meadow and Lark Bunting.
  • Volunteers performed weed removal around the Manor House Trail.

2) Fire safety

  • None this week.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • Volunteers will work on vegetation and tread maintenance around the system throughout July. The BGP project to widen the boardwalk is now open again for use but will require one more load of fill to fully complete.

Weekly Trails Report – July 5, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed weed mitigation and tread maintenance on High Meadow, Beacon Hill, and Summit View.
  • Volunteers continued to work on the Brannon Gearhart Park turnpike expansion. It will now only require one more load of fill and some finishing touches to be complete. All other work is done outside of removing slash.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • Volunteers will work on vegetation and tread maintenance around the system throughout July and August. Volunteers will also reroute a small section of the Lark Bunting connector behind the pump house.

Weekly Trails Report – June 27, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers did vegetation maintenance on Cougar, Docmann and Domino.
  • Volunteers continued on the Brannon Gearhart Park turnpike widening. It will be completed by early July.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • Volunteers will continue work on vegetation maintenance and the BGP turnpike widening.

Weekly Trails Report – June 13 & 20, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

Singletrack Trails Inc. completed maintenance on North Shaffer Trail, South Shaffer Trail and the connector trail from the North Hogback Trail to the Lyons Trail. STI also removed timbers from one edge of the Brannon Gearhart Park turnpike. Singletrack Trails Inc work is now complete for the season.

Volunteers began reassembling the Brannon Gearhart Park turnpike. This trail is currently CLOSED.

Volunteers performed vegetation maintenance on Cougar and Domino Trails and tread maintenance on Summit View Trail

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

Volunteers will work on vegetation and tread maintenance around the system throughout June and July. The BGP project to widen the turnpike will be ongoing through the remainder of June and early July.

Weekly Trails Report – June 6, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Singletrack Trails performed maintenance on Upper North Shaffer trail. They will continue to work toward Lost Canyon and South Shaffer this coming week.
  • Volunteers performed weed mitigation on Cathy Johnson/Columbine trail.

2) Fire safety

  • None this week.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • The contractor will continue with their work heading South. They are expected to finish this week or early next week. Weather has delayed completion.
  • Volunteers will work on vegetation maintenance on Cougar on Friday.

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Singletrack Trails performed maintenance on Lower Summit View and Upper North Shaffer trails. They will continue to work toward Lost Canyon and South Shaffer this coming week.
  • Volunteers performed vegetation and trail maintenance on Colorow, Cougar, Docmann and parts of Shaffer and Lost Canyon trails.

2) Fire safety

  • None this week.

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • The contractor will continue with their work heading South. They are expected to finish by the week of June 5.

Weekly Trails Report – May 9, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • No volunteer activities this week but our contractor began work, starting with Massey Draw near the intersection of Colorow as well as the Rose Clover connector.

2) Fire safety

  • No work this week but there will be a session this coming weekend.

3) Outlook for the weeks ahead:

  • Volunteers will likely start more frequent sessions closer to Memorial Day once the contractor has wrapped up their work across the system.

Weekly Trails Report – May 2, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed tread maintenance on the Lindenwood connector and took care of a fallen tree on Beacon Hill.

2) Fire safety

  • Volunteers assisted with clean up around the equestrian center.

3) Outlook for the weeks ahead:

  • Volunteers will continue small projects off and on until vegetation season picks up. In addition, the contractor will begin yearly maintenance on singletrack trails starting with the lower sections on 5/3. They will do upper trail maintenance likely a week or two after that.

Weekly Trails Report – April 18, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed tread maintenance on the Manor House connector off North Ranch road. Drainages were cleaned, enhanced and tread was flattened.

2) Fire safety

  • Volunteers wrapped up the finishing touches on the North Ranch emergency exit gate. A contractor will be coming to process the slash in the coming weeks.

3) Outlook for the weeks ahead:

  • Volunteers will continue trail maintenance on select areas

Weekly Trails Report – April 11, 2022

1) Trail Maintenance:

  • Volunteers performed tread maintenance on Cougar Trail, from Valley Parkway to a bit past Bluebird trail. Drainages were cleaned, tread was flattened and a few new drains were added.

2) Fire safety

  • Volunteers removed low vegetation along the access road between North Ranch and Willow Springs, to enhance fire safety of this access. Cut materials will be chipped by staff in the coming days.

3) Outlook for the weeks ahead:

  • Volunteers will continue trail maintenance on select areas.

  • Volunteers performed tread maintenance on the Manor House connector and Mountain Willow connector, and prepped for work on the North side of Lower Bradford.

• Volunteers finished placing the remaining tool boxes in the field.

Weekly Trails Report – June 7, 2021

– Volunteers mobilized the remaining new tool boxes out into the field. That is now complete.
– Volunteers did work on the raised bridges in East Plum Thicket / Manzanita area. Drains were installed and crusher fines were brought in to widen and raise the connecting ramps.
– Volunteers will continue on smaller projects over the next two weeks before vegetation maintenance begins in earnest.

1) Trail Maintenance (Volunteers):
• Volunteers added rock armoring on Docmann Trail to mitigate seasonal mud.

2) Trail Maintenance (Contractor):
• Singletrack Trails performed maintenance on the following trails the past two weeks:
• Bradford Trail (lower), repaired drainage along northern property boundary
• Bradford Trail (lower), adjusted alignment of tread adjacent to fence at rocks
• Lyons Trail, significant drainage work full length of trail to repair features and mitigate erosion of soft soils
• Colorow Trail, repaired a few drainage features
• Colorow Trail, repaired erosion at large rocks
• Lost Canyon Trail, repaired erosion for lower portion of trail
• North Shaffer Trail, repaired erosion at switchback

3) Outlook for the week ahead:

  • Singletrack Trails will continue trail maintenance. Work will include maintenance of portions of South Shaffer Trail
  • Volunteers will complete rock armoring on Docmann Trail
