Comments: Sisters Construction was very professional and returned call promptly. They provided a complete quote and kept me informed if there was anything that changed. The subcontractors were friendly and professional and did an excellent job. They put down wood floors in the upstairs and replaced the wood railings with wrought Iron. They estimated that the whole job would take a week and they finished in 6 days. Jeannie recommended places to look for design ideas on how to do the job and helped buy the materials. The final cost was what was quoted. I highly recommend them if you have any remodeling projects and we would use them again for future projects.

Comments: Would you pay $689.00 to replace a part that costs $39.99 and takes less than 15 minutes to install? That is AFTER paying a service call charge of $129.
Aaron, the service tech was nice enough, very professional. He arrived on time, actually, he was early, and proceeded to test the thermostat and look at the furnace filter. He then checked the AC unit and in a few minutes determined that the unit needed a new capacitor. I asked how much it would cost to replace. Without hesitation, he indicated it would be $818.00 which included the cost of the service call. I declined and said I wanted to think it over. As he was sitting in his truck, ready to leave, he emailed me a new quote for $689.00 – which was AFTER I already paid the $129.00 service call.
I did a quick search and found the same capacitor for $39.99 at a nearby parts store. The capacitor has four wires, and is held in place by a bracket with two screws. It is on the front panel and access is VERY easy. It took me less that 15 minutes to do it myself. (After making sure I turned the power off and discharged the capacitor! Which are the two most technical parts of the job LOL)
Southwest was going to charge me about $650 in labor for a task that takes minutes to do.
FYI – This must be a common “scam.” There are YouTube videos about it. Even the person I bought the $40 part from told me he hears horror stories about this type of price gouging all the time.

Comments: We had been considering converting our front yard to xeriscape for several years and finally decided to get an estimate of the cost. We contacted Four Elements Landscape and Outdoor Living. They responded immediately and sent Jeremy Hillman to talk with us. He listened closely to our ideas, asked important questions, and developed a plan within a very few days, emailing us two-dimensional and three-dimensional images of the plan. He came to our home again and talked over the plan, answered our questions, and included some suggestions we had. The cost was reasonable—much less than we anticipated—and we agreed to have them do the job. Within a couple of weeks his workers arrived, diligently went to work, and completed the job in several days. Whenever we had questions we called or emailed Jeremy and he responded almost immediately. The shrubs and grasses they planted are “deer resistant” and are guaranteed for a year and are irrigated by a drip system that the workers installed. We were thrilled with the outcome. The dry streambed design in the middle of the yard is strikingly beautiful. At our suggestion, the design included two berms rising above the prior flat, slightly sloping front yard. It turned out great. In the month or so since the project has been completed, we have received many “wow” responses from our neighbors and friends. We are very happy with the results and would strongly recommend Four Elements Landscape and Outdoor Living.

Comments: Highly recommend Maxim and his sister Katie for tree trimming or removal. First of all, he was the ONLY ONE of several tree service companies who answered my phone call. I called companies I have used in the past, left messages and had zero response from ANY of them. We needed an overgrown elm tree from our neighbors’ yard trimmed back from our property line which involved removing (with our neighbors’ concurrence) one of three main trunks from the tree. Maxim came over to provide a quote on Saturday and completed the work the following Tuesday. Extremely knowledgeable and provided many tips for maintaining our other trees, as well. Of note was the cleanup. We could have eaten from the lawn, driveway, sidewalk and street after they were done. AMAZING work, great people, simply a pleasure.

Comments: After gathering bids from 3 other contractors, we chose Dylan Gomez to do a massive fire-mitigation job on our property and are extremely glad we did. We had 40-yr-old plantings of Holly and Juniper that had become pernicious weeds and were obvious fire risks, as well as other shrubs that were too close to the house. Dylan and his crew dug out everything, roto-tilled where necessary, then rebuilt or replaced crumbling stone landscape walls, put in paths, path lights, and a new drip system, replaced old weed barrier, and covered the beds with rock mulch. He respected our budget by reusing the stones from the replaced wall to repair the others, and was willing to re-use all of our old rock mulch before purchasing new. They also did some small, miscellaneous repairs to the stone on our house. Dylan and his extremely hard-working crew were on our property nearly every day for 5 weeks, interrupted only by a foot and a half of snow. He was always available for questions and discussion, was always cheerful and insightful, and had excellent ideas for how this job could best be done. We will definitely be hiring him and his team for the next phase of our job when we replant with Fire-wise plants.

Comments: The “Ackermann Team” is one of a few painters who still do the job by hand. They spent several days scraping, sanding, caulking, and replacing rotted wood. They applied a heavy coat of primer/paint to the body while meticulously painting the trim and accent pieces. Eight days later, you wouldn’t know they were here. One area needed touch-up after the fact, and the foreman (Devan) took care of it that day.
I had Ackermann paint my house 18 years ago, and it was still in pretty good shape. I just wanted a fresh look.

Comments: Per the contract, the house was to be scraped and primed on bare wood. However, this was not done. Owner, Ernest Cline, said they used clear primer. There is no such thing as clear primer according to other painters. Window edging was only painted over peeling and falling off edging. No scraping or primeing was completed around windows. The 6 or painters on site were rushing the job to beat the weather and only one painter spoke English. We were told by Ernest to not speak to the painters and only speak to him, but he was not on-site and difficult to reach by phone. Communication was poor. Poor quality job. In addition, tools were missing from our unlocked garage that were definitely there before the work started. I would not recommend this company for exterior painting.

Comments: I rarely write reviews unless something is exceptional. That is the case with the purchase and installation of a whole house water filter and softener system by Waterworks. This is the 3rd system in 3 different homes in 25 years and it is the easiest to maintain and is providing excellent quality water. The old water tank was removed and all debris was cleaned up. I had a small plumbing leak prior to the installation. Although Waterworks was not responsible for it, the installer spent time and mileage obtaining parts to fix the problem. Waterworks is great!
